Quota International of Grand Rapids is hosting our annual Book Fair fundraiser at Barnes & Noble at Woodland Mall on Saturday, November 8.
Barnes & Noble will donate a percentage of sales to Quota to help fund our service projects to support the deaf and hard of hearing community. Click here to see the activities and print copies to hand out to your friends and family.
How can you help? There are three different ways!
- Visit the Barnes & Noble Store at Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids during regular store hours on Saturday, November 8. Special events will be happening all day long. Please see the attached Save the Date for more information. Make sure to mention Quota ID#11465085 to your cashier when completing your purchase or present a copy of the attached voucher.
- Shop at ANY B&N store on November 8 – anywhere in the US. Please make sure to mention Quota ID#11465085 to your cashier when purchasing. (or present voucher).
- Shop online at www.barnesandnoble.com anytime between November 8-13. Type in ID#11465085 when you checkout, and Quota will receive a percentage of the online sale!
Barnes & Noble is a great place to shop for gifts for the upcoming holidays or to feed your own love of books. Winter is coming and everyone likes getting cozy with a good book when it’s cold and snowing outside! Thanks for your help.
Quota of Grand Rapids is providing co-pay funding through Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) for the purchase of hearing aids for five individuals. This is only one of several service projects Quota does for which we raise funds with events like our recent Duck Walk and the upcoming Barnes & Noble Book Fair (Woodland Mall, Saturday, November 8.) We are proud to serve the community through organizations like DHHS.
What a wonderful day to walk in Millennium Park! Our Quota Event signs and bright yellow balloons lined the way where our new Banner greeted our participants in front of Shelter B.
Despite the cold weather, almost 80 people joined us for our annual Duck Walk, a fund and awareness raising event. We had several activities for the kids including face painting by former JQ member, Amy, and our own member, Rachael and her friend, Kenzee.
Special guests included Mr. Quackers and ventriloquist Chris with his puppet friends, Gertrude and Theodore. Ashlee from the Meijer Hearing Center conducted free hearing screening for our guests. And Quotarian Sue demonstrated her fishing skills with the kids at the duck pond!
There were participants from many of Quota’s partner service organizations including Northview’s Total Communication Program and the Grand Rapids Oral Deaf program.
We hope everyone who participated had a great time! Thanks for supporting Quota and our service mission.

April brings our annual Installation Banquet. Along with installing our new 2014-2015 officers, Deb will present a short message on deaf education from 1817 to the present.
Our Installation does require RSVP, please check your inbox for your invitation.
Join us for our annual election of officers. Our Program Committee will also lead us in our service project (for Quota Cares Month). Our focus will be on the local non-profit organization, Kids Food Basket.
Join us as we decorate and stuff bags full of goodies for Sisters in Support. Last year, we heard from the director and packed up goodies bags (click here, if you missed it). Here is a list of suggestions for things you can bring (use your imagination!):

- Kleenex (fancy travel packs)

- Needle & thread

- Hair accessories (pins, clips, etc.)
Join us Tuesday, December 10th at DHHS for our annual Holiday party with the Tuesday group. You can make monetary donations to help fund the lunch and the purchase of gift cards (we have decided to go the gift card route in lieu of actual gifts) before that Tuesday. Bring your checkbook to the holiday party at the Bishop’s or mail your check to our P.O. box. Make checks out to “Q.I. of G.R. Charitable Foundation”. This is tax deductible. You may also help supply BINGO gifts by purchasing $1.00 items and getting them to Martha before Dec. 10th.
Remember, this holiday party may be just another party for us, but for our DHHS friends it is THE event of their holiday season. You can see a few pictures and the joy we bring by clicking here.
