HOLIDAY BOOK FAIR
Grand Rapids, Mich., October 19, 2015 – Quota International of Grand Rapids is teaming with Barnes & Noble to host a fundraising Book Fair on Saturday, November 7 at the Woodland Mall retail store. The event will run all day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. A portion of all purchases made in the store on Saturday, or online at www.barnesandnoble.com from November 7-14, will be donated by Barnes & Noble to Quota for use in service projects to help the deaf and hard of hearing in West Michigan. On-line or in-store customers need to give Quota’s special Book Fair ID number 11704269 at checkout.
The Saturday event will include several special activities including Hearing Screening for Adults by Hear USA, Paws With a Cause service dogs, Fingerprinting with Trooper Martin Miller, story reading with sign language interpreters, and bookmark crafts for kids. A Mini Makers Faire will also be part of the fun – an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, authors, artists, and students exhibiting what they create. Santa also arrives the same day with the toys he has made.
Questions about the Book Fair can be directed to Lisa Braendle via email at email@example.com.
One of our Club’s largest fundraisers – our annual 50/50 raffle – is coming up in a couple of months! Tickets will go on sale in March and the drawing for the winner will be held at our meeting on April 16, 2015.
YOU could be the lucky winner! (You do not have to be present to win.) Proceeds from the raffle help us in our service to the deaf and hard of hearing community. So we need a successful raffle!
Contact us if you would like to purchase tickets – and watch for more details coming soon.
Quota is working hard to raise funds that will be used to help the deaf and hard of hearing and make a difference in the lives of many people in our community.
Our Fin/Fun committee has proposed three major 2015 fundraisers for Quota this year. Planning for the first one is already underway. Our popular ‘Show Me the Money” 50/50 raffle is back! Chair Pam H. has applied for the raffle license and is busy making plans with her committee. Ticket sales will start on March 19 and continue until April 16 when a winning ticket will be drawn at our annual Installation Banquet. We hope all members and Quota friends will support this great event by buying tickets. You never know–one of you might be the big winner this year!!
Our annual Duck Walk will be held in September. Co-chairs Martha H. and Sandi A. have plans for some new and exciting changes this year. And our final major fundraiser will be our annual Barnes & Noble Book Fair which will be held in November. Chairs Lisa B. and Pat C. are sure to have fun things planned. So watch the blog for more details as planning begins!
Please remember that Koeze’s products can be purchased year-round and the proceeds help us fund our service projects. Valentine’s Day is a great time for a Koeze treat.
And finally, Amazon Smile is always a great way to help out by just hitting a key on your computer. Visit www.smile.amazon.com, select Quota Grand Rapids Charitable Foundation as your chosen charity and a portion of all your Amazon purchases will help us help others.
Your support in all fundraising endeavors is much appreciated! Leave a message for us if you would like to join in the fun!

Quota of Grand Rapids is providing co-pay funding through Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) for the purchase of hearing aids for five individuals. This is only one of several service projects Quota does for which we raise funds with events like our recent Duck Walk and the upcoming Barnes & Noble Book Fair (Woodland Mall, Saturday, November 8.) We are proud to serve the community through organizations like DHHS.
What a wonderful day to walk in Millennium Park! Our Quota Event signs and bright yellow balloons lined the way where our new Banner greeted our participants in front of Shelter B.
Despite the cold weather, almost 80 people joined us for our annual Duck Walk, a fund and awareness raising event. We had several activities for the kids including face painting by former JQ member, Amy, and our own member, Rachael and her friend, Kenzee.
Special guests included Mr. Quackers and ventriloquist Chris with his puppet friends, Gertrude and Theodore. Ashlee from the Meijer Hearing Center conducted free hearing screening for our guests. And Quotarian Sue demonstrated her fishing skills with the kids at the duck pond!
There were participants from many of Quota’s partner service organizations including Northview’s Total Communication Program and the Grand Rapids Oral Deaf program.
We hope everyone who participated had a great time! Thanks for supporting Quota and our service mission.
