Dare to Dream with our new Board…

Below you will read the dreams that our new Board Members shared at the Installation (click here to see the new Board). Pat has chosen the theme, “Dream”. Keep reading to see what it stands for…

Quota Installation 2011 ~~ Dream Theme

The Cool Cats theme is: “I do my best because I have a dream.”

and, Walt Disney said: “If you can dream it, you can do it.”

Pat – President

I had a dream.  In it I returned home from China and became the recording secretary of Quota.
When I woke up, I got an e-mail from Kath Slagal asking me to be President – Elect.  SHE is the
recording secretary. Oops!  Now I have to have another dream.

C.S. Lewis said, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

So, my new dream is an acronym:

D our dream is to donate our time to others
R our dream is to resonate and be heard
E our dream is to educate where we can
A our dream is to activate from within
M our dream is to motivate all to care

Kim – President Elect

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.  I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will be as one.” John Lennon

Kath Slagal – Recording Secretary (this is a poem written by her)

Dream

Can you dream?

Can you believe in the best of everyone?

Believe in a world of peace, love and giving of oneself?

Can you believe in a world without hatred, bitterness and smallness of character?

In a world where kindness and caring give respite and hope.

Can you believe that each small step can make a difference?

If you can do this, you believe in Quota.

Can you dream?

Phyllis – Treasurer

My dream is that this snow go away!!!!   My dream for Quota is for the chapter to continue to attract new members and those that are already Quotarians to  continue to support our events so that we can continue to be a small yet mighty club that can make a difference in our community.

Kathy Freeman – Director (2 years)

Dance in the direction of your dreams…

Maureen – Director (2 years)

If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.”        -Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I know sometimes in my efforts to make things “easy” for people to volunteer, I’ve assigned tasks and work.  I know it’s much more effective to paint the vision and let people step up on their own.  And I know personally, I’m much more inspired by a painter.

So my dream for myself and for Quota is that we make creative use of our talents to paint the vision we want for Quota.  There’s no doubt that we have the talent to pull it off if when we decide on a direction.

Jan – Director (1 year)

Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.”  by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sarah – Director (1 year)

The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers. But above all, the world needs dreamers who do.” -Sarah Ban Breathnach

President’s Message – April 2011

There are signs of spring!!! Isn’t it grand?

Speaking of grand things, Quota of Grand Rapids is hosting the 2011 District 20 Conference. We have lots of Grand things planned as well as a Red Carpet Event. We need volunteers to help make our Conference as grand as we can. Contact Kim or Kath if you would like to find out how you can help (and be on the lookout for emails asking for help).

Congrandulations on reaching the goal I set for you! You will soon see me sporting some pink hair! (Disclaimer: this is not a cheap thing to do. I am only going to go with one permanent color. Don’t fret! There will be purple; you’ll have to come to the Installation Banquet to see the new “do”!)

I have had a grand time serving as your President. I have learned a lot about Quota and each of you. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to this organization. It’s because of each of you that we are able to help so many people. You are shining stars!! As you know, Pat will be stepping back into the President position. Unfortunately, the timing was not right for me to continue on in this role. I look forward to serving back “behind the scenes” as we continue to move forward. It is my hope that I can lead again in the future and somehow I think that you haven’t seen the last of me in some kind of leadership role. Thank you again for all of your support and patience this past year.

Grandly yours

-Emily
