- PRESIDENT GWENN JACKSON REPORTS ON MID-TERM BOARD DECISIONS
In her latest Web message, President Gwenn Jackson shared details on mid-term board meeting discussions and decisions. Here are highlights of some of the decisions made:
-Passed the 2011-2012 Quota International and We Share Foundation budgets.
-Passed a $1 increase in Quota International dues—the first implementation of the cost-of-living dues bylaw passed by voting delegates at Convention 2008. Dues collected for the 2012 year will be U.S.$76.
-Assessed the status of the Creating the Quota of Tomorrow plan via the semi-annual status report [http://www.quota.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/CREATING-THE-QUOTA-OF-TOMORROW.pdf ]. Since its adoption in 2010, the plan has successfully translated operations to a Web-based system including the unveiling of a new Web site, the unveiling of a new online The Quotarian magazine expanded to two issues a year, and a new Web-based database. The board noted that since May 1, 2010, through the last day of the board meeting, five new clubs and four new branches had been chartered, and plans were underway for the chartering of two more clubs in March. It was reported that U.S.$38,217 had been spent from the period May 1, 2010, through February 6, 2011, in outside costs on the Creating the Quota of Tomorrow plan.
-Approved the expansion of international service initiatives including the launching in 2011-2012 of a Noise-Induced Hearing Loss in Youth public awareness campaign as well as expansion of the Junior Quota Club and Cops ‘n’ Kids Literacy Program.
-Approved the expansion of the Club-to-Club World Service program during the 2011-2013 program to include a record 19 projects in five countries.
-Approved changes to the Centennial Service and Growth Program that enable all branches and all size clubs that charter to be recognized and rewarded on a sliding scale for their success.

- MEMBERSHIP UPDATE
As of February 28, 2011, QI has 5,617 members located in 271 clubs worldwide. This compares with 5,804 members and 276 clubs at this time last year, a net loss of 187 members and 5 clubs. However, 3 clubs have been chartered so far in March and one new branch has been formed, so March is off to a good start.
