Christmas lunch with our DHHS Foster Friends

Merriam Webster’s Online Dictionary defines joy as:

1 a : the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires : delight b : the expression or exhibition of such emotion : gaiety
2 : a state of happiness or felicity : bliss
3 : a source or cause of delight

As Quotarians we get the chance to see joy in its purest form at the DHHS luncheon for our Foster Friends. Tuesday, December 8th was the annual gift giving day. We ate at the Pizza Hut across the street from DHHS’s new location. Then Jan, Emily and Debbie went across the street with our DHHS friends and passed out their gifts.

Here are a few pictures from the celebration.

We posed for a picture before saying goodbye and Merry Christmas. Our friends kept thanking us over and over. They loved every gift and watching them open their presents was as precious as watching a child on Christmas morning. We hope you’ll join us next year to experience the best joy of the season!

Thank you, from our Foster Friends.

Merry Christmas!

Getting to Know You… Emily

Getting to know Emily since she’s the only December birthday! Emily will have been a member of Quota three years in January! Her favorite snack is popcorn and she enjoys eating it while watching her favorite movie, “White Christmas”.

Emily was asked, “Have you ever walked along a beach in the moonlight?” Yes, in Savannah, with my boyfriend in college (boo!). I remember the sound of the ocean waves crashing and the smell of the salt water. The rest of the memory is blah because he was a jerk! But we’d go out there all the time and sit in the swing at night.

Emily would describe the meaning of love to a child by saying… it’s the feeling of being held tight like a hug or getting everything you want for Christmas every day!

Which would be worse? Being held up for 15 minutes at a railroad crossing or being last in a line of 20 people at the grocery store? Do I have ice cream in my cart? Do I have to pee? Because both have happened to me and both are worse when I have to pee. Is the cashier chatty? I guess, the worse of the two is the grocery store. Because it’s going to take longer then 15 minutes to scan 20 peoples groceries.

What if you were six inches taller? I would have to buy new clothes and I’d weigh less… maybe my legs would be skinnier!

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor and brand? Peppermint, Hudsonville, or anything local/homemade.

Thanks Emily for sharing a little bit about yourself!
